It is amazing that for a business model that has been around for 50 years, how many people still have misconceptions about a network marketing business. In fact, this article will reveal the 3 biggest misconceptions that people have that prevent them from getting involved with this potentially lucrative business.

Myth 1) Every Person Is A Prospect

WRONG!!

Unfortunately, this myth has come as a result of the “old school” mlm prospecting technique referred to as the “3 foot” rule. This rule basically stated that a distributor should prospect any person that came within 3 feet of them ALL day long!

YIKES!

No wonder some people are terrified of even mentioning the word “network marketing” to friends or family members. Chances are, friends and family members have been hounded by an individual employing the “3 foot” rule.

Look, if somebody is not interested in a network marketing business, they should NOT be approached. Spend your time learning how to attract people that are open to network marketing to you and your business. This is an essential skill, especially with Internet network marketing.

Myth 2) You Must Be A “People” Person To Succeed With A Network Marketing Business

Now do not get me wrong, enjoying the social aspect of mlm is GREAT! But the concept of the back-slapping, rally attending, cheering in unison, network marketing “type” is no longer accurate.

I am not sure it ever was.

True, such stereotypical behavior still exists. The Internet has now made it possible for people to pro-actively “socialize” in the virtual world. The amazing growth of the social networks allows people involved with network marketing to comfortably form relationships with potential prospects. Distributors no longer need to attend rallies when they have access to webinars and teleseminars.

The growth of online video makes it easy for the network marketing community to get to “know” each other. Twitter makes it easy to “follow” each other. The truth is, a distributor can be about as social as they feel comfortable with, and still have a successful network marketing business.

Myth 3) Multi-Level Marketing And Pyramid Schemes Are The Same Thing

The FTC has done extensive investigating of the network marketing industry over the last several years. They have clearly identified the difference between a pyramid scheme and the mlm business model.

The Difference boils down to the emphasis placed on the company products/services. If an individual would purchase the company products/services with no business opportunity “attached” to them, the business model is legitimate. In a classic pyramid scheme, the products and services are just an excuse to “pass money around”.

The point of this article is that in order to be successful in “modern” network marketing, a person needs to learn Internet network marketing. It is the most cost effective method of growing a successful network marketing business.

Yes, your future can be fantastic in internet network marketing! It can be a lucrative part-time business or highly profitable full-time career for each of you who wants to build a successful internet home based business for yourself!

Firstly, you have to consider internet network marketing as the opportunity to develop a large cash flow with no employees on your payroll. It can be a great way to do business and a great way to live.

Think of it – you are your own boss. You have no employees to watch over. You have a down-line organization that is consistently producing new business and profit for you. You have the freedom to expand your business in a sunny climate during the winter months if you desire.

And while you are catching those rays while snoozing on the beach, you are literally earning money while you are sleeping; since your associates are continuing to do networking that expand not only their businesses and income, but yours as well.

Many people have free time on their hands but they do not have the income to enjoy this free time. Internet network marketing can provide that income. Others may have a terrific income, but they do not have the time to enjoy the fruits of their labor. A good, steady income through a solid internet network marketing business will give you additional financial freedom that will help you to eliminate worry and stress.

When building a home internet business, many situations will occur and they might actually work in your favor and help you to prosper in your internet network marketing business. Here are some of the reasons why you should start building your internet network marketing home business now:

1) Retirement

Most people, who are retiring today, need to supplement their retirement income in order to live. Many retirees are most interested in experiencing productive retirement years than in living just a rocking-chair existence.

2) Job transfers

Many people today are tired of transferring from city to city. However, many of the major corporations that they work are requesting them to move. In order to keep their job, many have no choice but to move. A successful internet network marketing home business allows you to live where you want to live and work at the comfort of your own home.

3) Inflation

As inflation increase, it obviously costs more than money to live. Most people want to either maintain or improve their present life styles. In network marketing, it allows you to increase your income whenever you choose to.

4) Working women

More women are working outside the home today than at any other time in our history. Women who become more interested in marketing are discovering that internet network marketing is providing them with higher incomes, increased security, and much more personal freedom than if they are working a traditional job.

5) Busy schedules

In today busy society, everyone enjoy personalized service. More and more people are becoming aware of the convenience of the kinds of personalized shopping service that the network marketing industry provides.

So remember, you do have a choice! This is your life. You are special! You are not a puppet. Although sometimes working a job makes you feel like one. This can be especially true if you have insensitive boss who constantly trying to pull you strings.

If you will but make the choice, you will be quite pleasantly surprised at what special things you can do with your life. Remember, one of the main keys to becoming successful in internet network marketing is the same as in any endeavor-simply start! Get the balls rolling and start building your own internet home business. With that, you can then begin to build a momentum of increasing financial wealth.

In Part I of this article, I raised the question of whether or not the entrepreneurial path is right for you. After all, not everyone is cut out to be an entrepreneur. I also gave you some food for thought to help you determine if perhaps a network marketing business is an option worthy of your consideration. At this point, an assumption is being made that you’ve read part I and have determined that you do have the entrepreneurial spirit and you’re interested in network marketing. So, with that said, let’s go ahead and dig a little deeper, shall we?

Firstly, are you a people person? Network marketing is a true “people helping people” business and this is a good thing. When you’re working with, and helping others, you’re essentially helping them to solve their problems. And, many people who win in business are successful because they’re great problem solvers. Think about it, on a grand scale, Bill Gates is one of the world’s wealthiest people because his company creates software to help people and businesses solve problems. On a smaller, localized scale, think of the successful restaurant known for good quality, inexpensive food. Their success stems from helping mom and dad solve the “what’s for dinner” dilemma.

One more thing worthy of mention on this people helping people concept: it’s been said that a certain path to getting everything in life you want is to help enough other people get what they want in life. The more people you help, the better your chances of realizing the success you seek.

Are you coachable? This may be the most important question you’ll need to answer to determine if MLM is the right business for you. Let me explain: most people who get involved with network marketing (aka MLM, multi level marketing or social marketing) do not have any kind of a meaningful business background. Operating a successful business requires a number of crucial business skills. These skills include effective communication, organization and most of all, marketing.

If you do not possess these skills that’s OK. As long as you’re open to working with your upline people to develop yourself as a business person you’ll be fine. Some people think they already know everything and their way is the best way or the only way. If that person is you then there’s a good chance network marketing is not for you. Building a successful MLM business requires some outside the box thinking so being able to accept instruction from those more experienced is important.

Are you thorough? Anything done half fast is never good enough in business. If you get involved in a business and you’re provided with a plan and directions from your upline then it’s up to you to follow through with those plans. Cutting corners and weak efforts on your part will not fly. As it’s been said; in business, “good enough” is never good enough.

Of course, who you choose to work with to start a network marketing business is critical. If you’ll be taking business coaching and business plans from somebody else, you better darn well make sure that person knows their stuff. You can read books and study courses on building the skills you’ll need to succeed in business and I highly recommend that you do. But, your upline sponsor should be the person you wish to become.

There’s no doubt that working with the right people to build a network marketing business is of the utmost importance. However, your success is your responsibility. To succeed, you’ll need to think like a business person, act like a business person and conduct yourself in every way like a true business person. If you treat your network marketing business like a hobby it will lead to frustration and eventually failure. If you treat it like the legitimate business that it is, then you’ll be giving yourself a great chance of succeeding. Note I said “giving yourself a great chance”. Nobody will build your business for you. They’ll help you, oh yes they will, but they’re not going to do the required work for you. That, my friend, is up to you. Are you ready for the challenge?

This is the fourth in a series of articles on the MLM / social marketing / network marketing industry. In the next article I’ll give you some ideas on what you’d want to look for in the person or people you choose to do business with. Your business partners, on many levels, are even more important than the business you get involved in.

If you’d like to ensure that you don’t miss out on any installments in this series, I’d be happy to send past and future articles directly to you. Just shoot me an email and I’ll include you on my direct distribution list.

Expanding your Network Marketing business can be difficult and frustrating. Especially when the methods you are using aren’t working for you. It will have you asking yourself, “What can I do to expand my Network Marketing business?”

So, what I’m going to do is share with you some tips on what you can do to expand your network marketing business. That way, you will be able to succeed in your home business.

The tips on expanding your business are:

1. Find The Right People. Finding the right people is crucial to your business. This will be people who have a need or want for the products you have to offer. This is your target market. An example of this is if you are marketing a health beverage, the right people will be someone who cares about their health or someone who wants to improve their health.

Or if you market travel, it will be someone who travels frequently every year.

2. Understand Your Products or Services. This is another tip on expanding your Network Marketing business. You must understand how your products or services can help someone. This will let you know exactly why someone would buy from you.

3. Duplicable System. You must have a effective system. It’s very important. Your system should find or attract the right person to you. Your system should also be something that your downline can use to build their home business.

These are some tips on what you can do to expand your Network Marketing business. If you are serious about growing your downline, make sure you apply the tips that were mentioned above. Now that you know the answer to the question, “what can I do to expand my network marketing business”, go out and use the tips.

Now more than ever, people are looking for home-based business opportunities.  Prior to joining a Network Marketing company, I looked at many different home-based business options.  For me, the advantages of Network Marketing over other home-based businesses was clear.  Here are some things that really made Network Marketing stand out as the best option.

Start-Up Costs:  In a Network Marketing business, start-up costs are generally quite low.  If you start a franchise with a well-known company, you are looking at spending hundreds of thousands of dollars.  On the other hand, if you join a reputable Network Marketing company, you are looking at start-up costs measured in just hundreds of dollars.

While other home-based business options may have low start-up costs, you generally have to keep pouring money into supplies and overhead.  Things you don’t have to worry about with a Network Marketing business.

Sales:  When you join a Network Marketing company, you’re set up to start making sales from day one.  With most companies, you don’t have to worry about taking payments; you enter your customer’s credit card information in the computer (or better yet, they enter it themselves), and you’re done.  Not only that, with most Network Marketing companies, the packaging and delivery of the product is done for you!  That way you can spend your time making sales and signing up new distributors.

If you’re in business completely on your own, you have the hassle of getting the mechanisms set up to be able to take credit cards, package products, ship or deliver products, and in many cases, even make the products themselves!  That leaves less time for you to be making sales, which means less money in your pocket.

Time:  With a Network Marketing business, as your organization and your business grows, your time freedom increases as well.  Because you are able to leverage your own efforts with those on your team, you are able to move more product through your organization as your business expands.  That means that even though you are putting in the same amount of time (or possibly even less time) as you did when you started, you actually earn more money.

On the other hand, if you are involved in a traditional home-based business, your time freedom shrinks as your business grows.  As you build a bigger customer base and increase your sales, you also have to increase the amount of time you put into your business.  If you have a cake decorating business, for instance, you may be excited to have a new customer, but each new customer means that you will have to bake and decorate more cakes.  Which means you have less time for the things you really want to do in life.

Legal.  There are laws that govern businesses, and it’s important to make sure your home-based business follows those laws.  In Network Marketing, as long as you choose a reputable company and follow the policies and procedures of your company, you generally don’t need to worry much about the law.

Other home-based business opportunities don’t usually offer the same benefit.  You have to do the research, file the paperwork, and do all the other things necessary to make sure you’re complying with the law.
