Because there are so many great affiliate programs available now, it has become quite a problem making your choice. Therefore we will discuss some tips about legitimate Internet businesses from home and starting successful businesses as marketing affiliates in this article.

You should look out for an affiliate program in an area that interests you and go for one that has products that are in demand and easy to market on the Internet. Some examples of affiliate products that are always in demand include things relating to golf, weight loss, pets, and making money on the Internet just to cite a few examples.

If you can find products to promote in any of those niches then you stand an excellent chance of running successful businesses. It is very important to remember that you should aim to promote products that people are willing to buy on the Internet and that they are looking for, in order to make money as marketing affiliates.

If you do not have an interest in one of the niche markets that I mentioned above it doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to find a product that both matches your interest and can be sold online. It is not wise to promote products that you have no interest in.

In order to generate an income on the Internet with legitimate businesses, it is important that you find products that interest you since you’ll be “talking” about it daily.

If the product interests you, you will do much better selling it because you’ll be able to express your interest in various marketing campaigns including blogging, writing a pre sell page, article marketing, and so on.

You will also be better able to relate to your prospects and customers. Another thing marketing affiliates running successful businesses from home do, is to choose products that are currently hot in the marketplace. Sites like Clickbank.com and Google Trends will help you with this.com, and others where you will find ideas about the hottest items on the market today.

You can discover new potential markets by simply paying attention to what is popular and going on right now. Another point I want to stress is that when you do choose an affiliate program to join, don’t start marketing it until you have purchased and tested at least one of the products.

The most successful marketing affiliates are people who sell products that they own and use. It gives them a big advantage in experience and authenticity. Also, if the customer understands that you use the product you are recommending, he or she will be more likely to buy it on the strength of your recommendation alone. That is another reason why you want to choose affiliate programs for legitimate Internet businesses that have products that interest you.

The best affiliate programs are the ones that offer higher payouts and you should keep this in mind. Since this will be ones livelihood when running successful businesses from home as marketing affiliates, a person wants to be able to find an affiliate program that offers a chance to make a reasonable income from each sale that you make.

Once you become more successful you may even be able to contact the affiliate merchant and negotiate a higher rate for sales from legitimate Internet businesses.

The visual design of your website is an extension of your brand identity. Be sure your website is dressed for success and represents your business as nothing less than credible and professional.

5. Do you have the time and skills to prepare your own content?

Be realistic here. Your written text should be concise, focus on customer needs, and use language that your customers understand. If writing isn’t your thing, consider hiring a copywriter to massage your copy or even write it for you. Make use of images and video where it will be useful to customers. If you don’t have quality images at hand, consider hiring a photographer or buying stock photography. Don’t be tempted to cut corners and compromise quality just to save a few bucks. 6. How can you take advantage of interactivity?

There’s no substitute for experiencing your product or service in person, but as this may be your only chance to make an impression, make the most of it! Establish what your customers are interested in, give it to them and lead them to action through the interactive nature of the Internet. Engage them with online competitions, printable discount vouchers, product demonstrations, live help, customer feedback surveys, etc. Interactivity can also be a great way to build your customer database or gather market research about your visitors.

7. What is a realistic budget for your website?

To plan and implement a website strategy you’ll need to invest upwards of a few thousand dollars to do it right the first time. Think carefully about your budget. Does it seem reasonable given your business goals? Think about the bottom line benefits in terms of potential cost savings as well as revenue potential.

8. How can you promote your website?

First and foremost, put your domain name on everything! Letterhead, invoices, signs, sales tags, whatever you can. It’s much easier to remember a website address than a phone number. To attract new customers via the Internet you’ll need to harness the search engines. Search engine marketing involves optimizing your website so it’s visible to customers searching for your type of business. If you are in a competitive market, you may need to budget for comprehensive search engine optimization for your site. If you’re looking at search engines as a major source of new customers you may also consider adding ‘pay-per-click’ advertising to the mix.

9. Will you manage your own updates?

Keeping your website fresh provides a reason for visitors to return to your website. If you plan to make regular content updates, consider investing in a Content Management System costing as little as a few hundred dollars. It makes more sense to pay your website developer for ongoing development rather than simple changes to content that you can make yourself.

10. How do you know if your website is a champion?

After your site has been live for several months, quantify the gains generated by your website and identify the impact your investment has made on the business. Using software tools you can establish which parts of your website are performing well, and which parts need tweaking. A website strategy is never really complete. You can always improve on the status quo. Set a regular schedule for review and don’t forget to budget for strategy changes and ongoing development.

As you know, blogging is one of the best ways to increase traffic flow to your new online business website (“Um, what’s blogging?” – if you don’t know much about writing blogs, please read this article first.) Once you write your first entry, you start wondering, what is the best place to post a blog? What are the top blog sites that could aid the marketing of your online business?

Here is a list of the best free blog web-sites that I use myself and recommend to my team members:

  1. Blogger.com
  2. WordPress.com
  3. Hubpages.com
  4. Tumblr.com
  5. Xanga.com
  6. Blog.com
  7. Livejournal.com
  8. Zimbio.com

“Oh no!” – you say. – “So many sites to sign up for! I hate that!” No worries – I recommend you use the free version of the software called Roboform (http://www.roboform.com/) for all of your Internet sign-ups. Roboform fills out your forms automatically with a push of a button, which reduces your sign-up time to a few seconds per website.

Generally, it’s good not to make your blog sound too promotional, with no more then 2 links to any one web-site per entry, but WordPress and Hubpages are especially strict when it comes to blog content. Make sure you don’t put anything that sounds like a “direct sell” onto those websites – otherwise your entries will get deleted and your account could get suspended.

If you like to write your entries in Word Document and then post them to the blog web-sites, make sure you preview your blogs before posting them. Blogs imported from Word tend to show up with a bunch of gibberish HTML codes, visible on top of the page. You would have to go to the blog edit window, and remove those manually. Once you post your entry on one of the websites I would recommend to copy and paste it from that site for when you start putting your blog on others. That way, you will be rid of the Word HTML codes forever.

Posting your blog manually to all of the above web-sites will take anywhere from an hour to 3 hours, depending on how fast you can work. My team and I have cut our posting time to 30-45 minutes, using a great free blog disseminator (a service which auto-posts blogs to various web-sites for you). I strongly recommend blog disseminators to anyone who values their time.

A quick note about the disseminators: they don’t auto-post blog tags – only the body of the blog – so make sure you put your tags underneath every entry. I advise my team against using simple one or two-word tags, the reason being, that they act as keywords for search engines and if they are too general, your posting will not get nearly as much traffic. For example, try googling the keywords “blogging”, “blog” or “online business”. There are millions of search engine results for each of them. What is the chance that YOUR blog will show up on the first page?

Instead, try using longer tags. Think of something an actual person would search for in Yahoo! or Google. For example, good keywords/tags for this particular blog are:

Where to post a blog, best websites to post a blog, top blog sites, top blog web-sites, the best place to post a blog, marketing a new online business, online business marketing, blogging for a new business, writing a blog for a new business, how to post a blog, new online business marketing tips, best free blog sites, best free blog websites

If you haven’t yet joined an online business opportunity, make sure you ask your team leaders for help with blogs, as they are extremely important to your development as a marketer. For example, I provide my team with links to various blog directories and with detailed tips on how to avoid common blogging mistakes. Remember that the more blogs you write, the more people will go to your website. I would recommend writing a blog every other day for the first month after your start/join an opportunity.

I hope this was helpful to you! I wish you best of luck in your blogging endeavors.
